Rangshikhar Naktsang, The Heritage Home
The Heritage House is located in the beautiful and stunning village of Rangshikhar. From Trashigang Pam village the diversion takes about 8kms to the village and till you reached the destiny, the village is totally hidden.
The Naktsang Residence is about 113 years old and it stands very majestically amongst the community houses. This summer residence was built by the second Dzongpoen (governor) of Trashigang, Dasho Sonam Tshering in early 1900s. It was during Dzongpoen Sonam Tshering’s period that he represented the coronation of the first king of Bhutan, Gonsar Ugyen Wangchuck. The seal that was put on the agreement on behalf of the people of Trashigang on 17th December 1907 is still being displayed in the Heritage home.
Rangshikhar Naktsang has Home stay facilities catered to tourists and from this point one can visit the famous Rangshikhar Meditation Center either by car or trek. Many visitors love this place as you can meet the lama or the hermit personally and ask questions about your present, future or passed life. One can also witness how juvenile lay monks are being educated in the oldest Buddhist sect of 14 century Master Longchen Ramjam.
In the evening, the villagers will host you with local drink Ara with some local organic snacks. The meals prepared are pure organic items produced in the village and served by the host and owner Aum Deki Peldon. From Rangshikhar Home Stay, one can have a nature peaceful two hours trek to Samchoeling Monastery where young monks are taught daily prayers. The view from this monastery is unimaginable. From this place one can preferably trek to down to the Trashigang town.
Rangshikhar Naktshang is must to visit not because it is special, but you get to feel the charm of Shachopas tales.
